DxOMark tests once again showed that when taking photos and videos, many megapixels do not guarantee the best result.
Announcing the 200-megapixel Redmi Note 12 Pro + last fall , the manufacturer did not skimp on praise for its camera. Earlier this month, the smartphone arrived in Europe and experts from DxOMark took it for testing . As it turned out, many megapixels do not guarantee a good result.
With a total score of 113 points, the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ ranked 74th on the DxOMark list. Yes, the device with a 200-megapixel camera is inferior not only to all the flagships of the current and last year, but even to such mid-level models as the Honor 70, Nothing Phone (1) and OnePlus Nord 2T.
Among the pros, experts noted good exposure, a wide dynamic range and a good white balance in low light. Additionally, the Redmi Note 12 Pro+ performs well in daylight and offers accurate and fast autofocus when shooting videos.
But there are more disadvantages and they are more significant: these are problems with color transfer and artifacts, and slow autofocus, and excessive sharpness and loss of small details in the video. Experts noted that stabilization when shooting video is not bad, but human movements (walking) are still visible.
Reviews say that just one 200-megapixel sensor is not enough for good picture quality. A stabilization system, reliable autofocus and high-quality optics are necessary. This once again confirms that the number of megapixels is not the only factor for obtaining high-quality photos and videos.
